NNAT2 Dates Set for Identification for Gifted Services 10/29/2009 2:35 PMThis is a reminder for those students and siblings who do not currently attend Capitol Hill or have not previously been identified as Gifted/Talented (GT). (Students who have previously qualifying gifted services are not affected by this test and will continue to receive services.)
The school district has set the dates and registration deadlines for the test used to identify students in grades K – 5 who qualify for gifted services in Saint Paul Public Schools. NNAT2 testing will be held a month earlier this year and will be administered in December.
NNAT2 Testing For Public Students
Saint Paul Public Schools offers the NNAT2 for GT identification once a year. All SPPS students in kindergarten and second grade will take the Naglieri Non-verbal Ability Test, second edition (NNAT2). Parents of students in grades 1, 3, 4 and 5 should talk to their child’s teacher at fall conferences to discuss whether their child may need gifted services based on high test scores or outstanding school work. November 2, 2009 is the deadline for deciding which students in SPPS will take the test in December 2009.
Students will take the NNAT2 December 1 – 8, 2009. Your child's school will inform you of the exact date your student will take the test. Parents of students taking the NNAT2 will receive final results of the test before the school choice deadline.
NNAT2 Testing For Non-Public Students
St. Paul Public Schools will offer free gifted-services testing for Saint Paul residents in December for first through fifth-grade students who attend a private, parochial or charter schools. The test determines whether a student qualifies for gifted education in St. Paul Public Schools and is eligible to apply for Capitol Hill Gifted and Talented School. Registration deadline is November 2; the test will be given December 3 and 5.
Saint Paul Public schools is not able to offer the NNAT2 test to students who do not live in the city of St. Paul.
